Timberwolves Begin Comeback with Game 4 Win Against Mavericks

The Minnesota Timberwolves have taken the first step in their quest to make NBA history by overcoming a 3-0 deficit. They defeated the Dallas Mavericks 105-100 in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals at the American Airlines Center, reducing the series gap to 3-1.

Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns, who struggled in the first three games, rose to the occasion with the season on the line. Edwards nearly achieved a triple-double with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. Towns found his rhythm with 25 points and 5 rebounds, shooting 9-of-13 from the field and 4-of-5 from three-point range.

Edwards hit a crucial shot in the final minute, while Towns' outside shooting in the fourth quarter was instrumental in securing the win, earning praise from fans on social media.

Despite the Mavericks controlling the series before this game, the previous matches were closely contested. Minnesota showed they could compete even when Edwards and Towns were not at their best. This game, however, saw a more aggressive Edwards from the start, helping the Timberwolves take an early double-digit lead.

The Mavericks, led by Luka Dončić with 28 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists, fought back to tie the game by halftime. Dončić struggled with his shooting initially but made up for it by drawing fouls and dominating the boards.

In the third quarter, Towns found his shooting groove, giving the Timberwolves a lead before picking up his fifth foul early in the fourth quarter. Dallas responded with a boost from Jaden Hardy, who contributed with multiple dunks and outside shots, setting up another close finish.

For the first time in the series, the Timberwolves made the crucial plays in the final moments. Towns hit three key three-pointers in the fourth quarter and managed to play most of it with five fouls before fouling out on a Dončić three-pointer.

Edwards then stepped up, hitting a pivotal shot in the last minute to extend the Timberwolves' lead to five points. This cushion was enough to withstand an and-1 three-pointer from Dončić, securing the win and sending the series back to Minnesota for Game 5 on Thursday
